About the Uruguayan Embassy in Canberra
The Embassy of Uruguay in Canberra is Uruguay’s resident diplomatic mission in Australia.
Uruguay and Australia established diplomatic relations on 15 December 1948. Uruguay opened its first diplomatic representation in Australia as a legation on 15 May 1958, and the representation was elevated to embassy status in 1964.
The Embassy represents Uruguay in its official relations with Australia and supports diplomatic, economic, cultural and other areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The Canberra Embassy is also responsible for Uruguay’s diplomatic relations with New Zealand, Fiji and Timor-Leste.
