About the Swedish Consulate General in Sydney
The Consulate-General of Sweden in Sydney provides honorary Swedish consular representation for New South Wales.
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade officially designates the mission as the Consulate-General of Sweden and lists its jurisdiction as New South Wales.
The mission is headed by Mr James Letherbarrow, Honorary Consul-General of Sweden, and is supported by Ms Anna Alvsdotter, Honorary Vice-Consul.
As an honorary Consulate-General, the Sydney office provides selected consular services and local assistance. Professional diplomatic and consular responsibility remains with the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra.

The Sydney Consulate-General provides selected services for Swedish citizens and other eligible visitors. Some procedures remain available only through the Embassy in Canberra.
Emergency passports
Applications for Swedish emergency passports can be made in Sydney by prior appointment. The Sydney Consulate-General is also one of the honorary posts in Australia authorised to issue Swedish emergency passports.
Passport and ID collection
Swedish passports and national ID cards applied for through an authorised passport office can, when arranged in advance, be forwarded to the Sydney Consulate-General for collection.
Certificates and assistance
The Consulate-General can provide selected services including assistance with eligible life certificates and appropriate local consular guidance for Swedish citizens.
Ordinary passport applications: applications for Swedish ordinary passports and national ID cards cannot be made at the Sydney Consulate-General. In Australia, these applications are handled by the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra.
