About the Australian Embassy in Greece
The Australian Embassy in Athens is Australia’s resident diplomatic mission in Greece and represents the Australian Government in its official relationship with the Hellenic Republic.
Australia and Greece have longstanding bilateral and people-to-people ties, supported by a large Greek-Australian community and cooperation across political, economic, cultural, educational and international issues.
The Embassy also has regional diplomatic responsibilities for Bulgaria and Romania, where Australia does not maintain resident embassies.

Australian passports
The Embassy provides Australian passport services. Some eligible adult and child renewals can be submitted by mail, while other applications require an in-person interview.
Notarial services
The Embassy provides eligible Australian notarial services including witnessing signatures, certifying copies and other services authorised under Australian law. Appointments are required for in-person services.
Visa and citizenship enquiries: Australian immigration and citizenship matters are administered by the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Use the official Home Affairs channels for visa applications and individual immigration enquiries.

Appointments at the Australian Embassy in Athens
Passport interviews and in-person notarial services at the Australian Embassy in Athens are by appointment only.
Applicants must attend in person for first-time passports, passport applications for children aged 16 or 17, certain first adult passports, replacement of lost or stolen passports, name or personal-detail changes, replacement of limited-validity or emergency passports, and other applications that do not qualify for postal renewal.
Eligible PC7 adult renewals can be submitted by mail. Eligible PC8 child renewals can also be submitted by mail where the child is under 16 and has previously held an Australian passport.
Applicants in Bulgaria and Romania who require an in-person passport interview may be able to lodge their application through the Australian Honorary Consulates in Sofia or Bucharest by appointment.
Passport processing: the Embassy currently advises allowing a minimum of six weeks to receive a new passport once payment has been taken. Incomplete applications can cause additional delays.

Notarial services: Australian Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria and Romania are not authorised to provide notarial services. Clients requiring Australian notarial services should contact the Australian Embassy in Athens.
