The Australian Embassy in Tallinn is Australia’s first pop-up diplomatic post. It has operated in Estonia since 2018 and provides Australia with a diplomatic presence while using a different model from a conventional permanently staffed embassy.
Australia’s Ambassador to Estonia operates an office in Tallinn for several weeks each year. Outside those periods, the Ambassador visits Estonia regularly and maintains Australia’s diplomatic relationship through meetings, digital communications and other engagement.
Australia and Estonia established diplomatic relations in 1991. The two countries cooperate in areas including digital technology, cyber security, trade, human rights and support for the rules-based international order.
