About the Australian Embassy in Lebanon
The Australian Embassy in Beirut is Australia’s resident diplomatic mission to the Republic of Lebanon.
The Embassy represents the Australian Government and supports the relationship between Australia and Lebanon across diplomatic, economic, security, development and people-to-people matters.
The mission also provides consular assistance to Australians, Australian passport services and eligible notarial services.

Consular assistance
Australians requiring consular assistance can contact the Embassy during its published service hours. Urgent assistance outside business hours is available through the Australian Government’s 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre.
Australian passports
Eligible full-validity adult and child passport renewals may be lodged by mail. Applications that require personal attendance must be lodged at the Embassy by appointment.
Notarial services
The Embassy provides a limited range of eligible notarial and documentary services, including witnessing signatures, certifying copies and legalising eligible documents.
Visa, immigration and citizenship: the Embassy does not provide immigration advice by telephone. Visa, citizenship and migration information is provided through the Australian Department of Home Affairs and the Embassy’s designated immigration enquiry channels.

Appointments at the Australian Embassy in Beirut
Passport application interviews and notarial services at the Australian Embassy in Beirut operate by appointment only.
An appointment is not required simply to collect a new passport or travel document once the Embassy has confirmed that it is ready for collection.
Before booking a passport appointment, check whether your renewal qualifies for the current mail-in process.
Travelling from Syria: clients travelling from Syria for a notarial appointment should allow at least three business days after booking. The Embassy advises that Lebanese authorities require confirmation of the appointment before allowing entry from Syria for this purpose.
