About the Australian Embassy in Türkiye
The Australian Embassy in Ankara is Australia’s resident diplomatic mission to the Republic of Türkiye.
The Embassy represents the Australian Government and supports Australia’s relationship with Türkiye across diplomacy, trade, investment, education, security and people-to-people links.
The Embassy in Ankara also has regional responsibility for Australia’s relations with Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Australian passports
Australian passport applications can be lodged by appointment at the Embassy in Ankara. Passport appointments are also available through Australia’s Consulate-General in Istanbul.
Notarial services
The Embassy provides eligible Australian notarial services. Some services require personal attendance, while certain legalisation services can be completed by registered mail or courier after confirmation from the Embassy.
Visa and citizenship matters: the Australian Embassy in Ankara cannot answer individual Australian visa or citizenship enquiries. These matters are administered by the Australian Department of Home Affairs.

Appointments at the Australian Embassy in Ankara
All face-to-face Australian passport and notarial services at the Embassy in Ankara are available by appointment only.
Passport appointments can be booked for applications including adult renewals, new adult passports, child passports and family applications.
Applicants who require an in-person passport interview may also be able to lodge their application through the Australian Consulate-General in Istanbul.
Payment: passport and in-person notarial fees are paid by eligible credit or debit card. Cash is not accepted. Passport fees are charged in Australian dollars.

Azerbaijan
Australia does not maintain a resident embassy in Azerbaijan. Australians requiring consular assistance can contact the Australian Embassy in Ankara.
Iran: while the Australian Embassy in Tehran remains suspended, the Australian team in Ankara may also provide passport and notarial services and limited consular assistance to Australians in Iran. This is a temporary service arrangement rather than an additional diplomatic accreditation of the Ankara Embassy.
Planning your visit
Before visiting the Australian Embassy
Book an appointment where personal attendance is required and prepare all original documents, photographs and identification before travelling to the Embassy.
Book before attending
Face-to-face passport and notarial services are appointment only. Do not travel to the Embassy for these services without a confirmed booking.
Bring original documents
Passport applicants should bring the original documents required for their application. Certified copies cannot replace original documents where originals are required for passport lodgement.
Prepare for card payment
Bring an eligible credit or debit card for passport and notarial fees. Cash is not accepted for in-person passport appointments.
Passport processing: allow approximately six weeks to receive a new Australian passport after successful lodgement. Applicants should take this timeframe into account when making travel plans.
Children aged 16 or 17: the child applicant must attend the passport appointment. Children aged 15 or younger do not normally need to attend, although a parent must attend when an in-person application is required.
Notarial services by mail: some eligible Apostille and Authentication services can be completed by registered mail or courier after the Embassy confirms that the document is suitable for the requested service.
