The Embassy provides Australian passport services. The application process depends on whether you are applying for a first passport, renewing an existing passport or applying in other circumstances.
Notarial services
Eligible services include witnessing signatures, certifying copies, legalising Australian public documents and administering oaths or affirmations.
Apostilles and Authentications: legalisation of eligible Australian public documents by Apostille or Authentication is offered by mail only. An appointment is not required for these postal services.
Visa and citizenship matters: Australian visa, migration and citizenship services are administered by the Australian Department of Home Affairs and are separate from the Embassy’s passport and consular services.

Passport appointments are offered from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, excluding public holidays.
In-person notarial appointments are offered from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Wednesdays, excluding public holidays.
The Embassy does not offer walk-in appointments. Book the appropriate service before travelling to Carnegielaan.
Check your service first: some notarial services require personal attendance, while Apostille and Authentication requests are handled by mail. Confirm the correct procedure before booking an appointment.

Emergency passports: Australians who have lost a passport or had it stolen and need to travel urgently should contact the Embassy. Emergency passports can be issued in eligible circumstances and normally take approximately two full business days to process.
