About the Australian Embassy in the Philippines

The Australian Embassy in Manila is Australia’s resident diplomatic mission to the Republic of the Philippines.

The Embassy represents the Australian Government and supports the relationship between Australia and the Philippines across diplomacy, trade, development cooperation, defence, security, education and people-to-people links.

It also provides consular assistance to Australians in the Philippines, Australian passport services and eligible notarial services.

Consular assistance

Australians living in or visiting the Philippines can contact the Embassy for consular assistance in accordance with the Australian Government’s Consular Services Charter.

Australian passports

The Embassy provides Australian passport services. Application requirements depend on the type of passport application, and some applications require personal attendance at the Embassy.

Notarial services

Eligible services include Certificates of No Impediment to Marriage, Apostilles and Authentications, witnessing signatures, certifying copies and administering eligible statutory declarations, affidavits, oaths and affirmations.

Visa and citizenship matters: the Consular Section does not process Australian visa or citizenship applications and cannot respond to visa or citizenship enquiries. These matters are administered by the Australian Department of Home Affairs.

Appointments at the Australian Embassy in Manila

Clients who need to attend the Embassy for a passport interview must book the correct appointment before visiting.

Only clients whose names appear in the Embassy’s appointment booking system are admitted for scheduled passport services.

Appointments are also required for notarial services. Book one appointment slot for each document or service where instructed by the Embassy.

Arrival: passport and notarial clients should arrive approximately 15 minutes before their appointment to allow time for security screening. Late arrival may result in the appointment being cancelled or rescheduled.

Before visiting the Australian Embassy

Complete the correct application process, book an appointment when personal attendance is required and bring all original supporting documents requested for your service.

Prepare your application

Australian passport applications should be prepared through the Australian Passport Office process before lodgement. Make sure the application is complete and that your photographs meet current Australian requirements.

Bring original documents

Applicants attending a passport appointment must bring the original supporting documents required for their application. Missing documents can delay or prevent lodgement.

Prepare for security

Bring valid identification and arrive early enough to complete security screening before your scheduled appointment.

Passport processing: Australian passports are printed in Australia. Allow a minimum of six weeks from the date a complete application is lodged and payment is made, plus additional delivery time where courier delivery is selected.

Priority processing: Priority Processing is not available for Australian passport applications lodged outside Australia. Applicants with confirmed urgent travel who cannot wait for a full-validity passport should contact the Embassy about possible emergency passport arrangements.

Payment: cash and personal cheques are not accepted for passport and notarial services. Current accepted options include eligible debit or credit cards and Philippine bank manager’s cheques made payable as instructed by the Embassy.

Children under 16 do not normally need to attend, but at least one parent or person with parental responsibility must attend when the child’s application is lodged in person.

Does the Embassy provide notarial services?

Yes. Eligible services include witnessing signatures, certifying copies, Apostilles and Authentications, Certificates of No Impediment to Marriage and certain declarations, affidavits, oaths and affirmations.

Do I need an appointment for notarial services?

Yes. You must have an appointment to attend the Embassy for notarial services.

Can someone obtain an Apostille or Authentication for me?

An authorised representative may obtain eligible Apostille or Authentication services on your behalf if the Embassy’s current authorisation and identification requirements are met.

Can I pay cash at the Australian Embassy?

No. Cash is not accepted for passport or notarial services. Check the current Embassy instructions for accepted card and manager’s cheque payment options.
