About the Australian Embassy in Thailand
The Australian Embassy in Bangkok is Australia’s resident diplomatic mission to the Kingdom of Thailand.
The Embassy represents the Australian Government and supports the relationship between Australia and Thailand across diplomacy, trade, investment, security, education and other areas of cooperation.
The mission also provides consular assistance, Australian passport services and eligible notarial services to Australians in Thailand.
Australia’s Ambassador to Thailand is Mr Pablo Kang.

Consular assistance
Australians living in or visiting Thailand can contact the Embassy for consular assistance in accordance with the Australian Government’s Consular Services Charter.
Australian passports
The Embassy processes Australian passport applications. Eligible adult and child renewal applications can be submitted by mail, while applications that require an interview must be lodged in person by appointment.
Notarial services
Eligible services include certified copies, Apostille and Authentication certificates, witnessing certain signatures, Australian statutory declarations, affidavits and Certificates of No Impediment to Marriage.
Visa and citizenship matters: Australian visa, immigration and citizenship matters are administered by the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Follow current Home Affairs procedures for applications and enquiries.

Appointments at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok
In-person Australian passport and notarial services at the Embassy are provided by appointment from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday, excluding designated Embassy public holidays.
Before booking a passport appointment, check whether your application qualifies for postal lodgement. Eligible renewal applications can be sent through Thailand’s postal system instead of being lodged personally.
Before booking a notarial appointment, confirm exactly which service is required by the organisation receiving your documents.
Passport collection: no appointment is required to collect a completed passport. Collection is available Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

The Australian Embassy in Bangkok is Australia’s resident diplomatic mission to Thailand.
Australia also maintains an Australian Consulate-General in Phuket, which provides passport, consular and eligible notarial services in southern Thailand.
Regional services within Thailand: the Embassy periodically conducts passport and notarial outreach visits outside Bangkok. These are announced on the official Embassy website and are available only on selected dates.

Before visiting the Australian Embassy
Check whether your application can be handled by mail, book an appointment where personal attendance is required and prepare all necessary documents before travelling to the Embassy.
Check mail eligibility
Eligible adult passport renewals can be lodged by mail. Eligible child renewal applications for children aged 15 or younger who have held a previous passport can also be submitted by mail.
Attend when required
First-time child applications, applications for 16- and 17-year-olds and certain applications involving lost or damaged passports must be lodged in person by appointment.
Prepare for card payment
Passport and notarial fees are payable by eligible credit or debit card. Cash payments are not accepted.
Passport processing: allow a minimum of six weeks to receive a new Australian passport after payment has been taken. Incomplete applications can take longer.
Postal applications: mailed passport applications must be sent through the local postal system. The Embassy does not accept applications submitted through app-based or private delivery services such as Grab, LINE Man or similar delivery services.
Notarial services by mail: some eligible notarial services can be completed by post. Services involving electronic original documents or personal signature witnessing may require attendance at the Embassy.
Getting married in Thailand: Australians applying for a Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage must attend in person by appointment and sign the application in front of a consular official.
