The Australian High Commission in Wellington is the official representative of the Australian Government in New Zealand.
The High Commission supports the close bilateral relationship between Australia and New Zealand across diplomacy, trade, security, economic cooperation and extensive people-to-people links.
It also provides consular assistance to Australians in New Zealand, Australian passport services and eligible notarial services.

Australian passports
Eligible adult renewals and eligible child renewals for children under 16 can be lodged by mail. All other passport applications must be lodged in person by appointment.
Notarial services
The High Commission provides eligible Australian notarial services including statutory declarations, certified copies, witnessing documents and the legalisation of eligible Australian documents.
Visa and immigration matters: visa applications are not accepted by the Australian High Commission in Wellington. Australian visa, immigration and citizenship matters are administered by the Australian Department of Home Affairs.

Appointments at the Australian High Commission in Wellington
An appointment is required before attending the High Commission for a passport application that must be lodged in person. There is no walk-in passport service.
Passport counter hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, excluding public holidays.
Notarial services are also provided by appointment only. Check which service you require and ensure that your documents are in the correct form before attending.
Arrival: applicants attending an in-person passport appointment should arrive approximately 10 minutes early to allow time for security checks.

Bring original documents
Applicants lodging in person must bring the original supporting documents required for their application. Photocopies and certified copies are not accepted where originals are required.
Prepare for security
Allow additional time for security checks. The High Commission does not provide onsite parking.
Passport processing: allow approximately six weeks to receive a passport once a complete application has been accepted. Incomplete applications are not processed until all requirements have been met.
Urgent travel: applicants who need a passport in less than three weeks should provide evidence of urgency. Depending on the circumstances, an emergency travel document may be available.
