About the Australian Embassy in Myanmar
The Australian Embassy in Yangon is Australia’s resident diplomatic mission to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
The Embassy represents the Australian Government in Myanmar and manages Australia’s diplomatic relationship with the country. It also provides passport, notarial and consular services to Australians, subject to local conditions and security constraints.
The current Head of Mission is Ms Julia Feeney, Chargé d’Affaires to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Consular assistance
Australians in Myanmar can contact the Embassy for consular assistance. The level of assistance the Embassy can provide may be limited by the security situation and restrictions on movement.
Australian passports
Australian passport services are available by appointment. Eligible adult renewal applications can also be delivered to the Embassy by courier or messenger service.
Notarial services
Eligible Australian notarial services are available in person by appointment only, including witnessing signatures, certifying copies, Apostilles, Authentications and Certificates of No Impediment to Marriage.
Australian visas and citizenship: the Embassy does not provide an Australian visa or citizenship counter service. Australian visa, migration and citizenship matters are administered by the Department of Home Affairs.

Appointments at the Australian Embassy in Yangon
The Embassy operates by appointment only for routine passport, notarial and consular services. An exception applies where a person requires emergency consular assistance.
Passport and notarial appointments must be booked in advance. Appointments can generally be booked up to four weeks ahead.
Visitors should arrive approximately 10 minutes before their appointment for security screening. The full names of attendees must be provided so they can be given access to the building.
Notarial appointments: bring your valid passport and original documents. If your signature needs to be witnessed, do not sign the document before attending your appointment.

Prepare your payment
The Embassy accepts cash payments for passport and consular services in US dollars only. Online payments can be made in Australian dollars. Cash in Myanmar kyat or Australian dollars is not accepted.
Passport processing: allow at least six weeks for standard passport processing. Passports lodged in Myanmar are currently also subject to approximately two weeks of delivery time in addition to the processing period.
Passport collection: an appointment is required to collect a completed passport. An authorised courier or messenger may also collect a passport under the Embassy’s current arrangements.
Travel advice: the Australian Government currently advises Australians not to travel to Myanmar due to the dangerous security situation and the threat of civil unrest and armed conflict. The Embassy’s ability to provide consular assistance, including in an emergency, may be extremely limited.
